On Friday night, N and I ended up at XYZ for dinner. This is not particularly remarkable in itself, except that I happened to be sitting by a group of three 30-something single men. Now, I wasn't trying to eavesdrop, but it was really loud at XYZ, and these men were practically yelling in my ear, so it was hard not to hear what they said. Essentially, Guy A had recently been on a date with a woman, and they group was discussing the date. While the woman was hot, and had similar interests with Guy A, he was not planning on going out with her again, because there was something "off" about her.
As I recalled my college days of hanging out with early 20-something guys, something struck me- the early 20-something year old is really not deterred by something being "off", so long as the woman is hot. The 30-something man, on the other hand, appears to be more concerned with the woman's position on the Hot/Crazy scale. This leads to the natural conclusion, that unless you're Gisele, women should really leave their crazy at home, at least for the first few dates. The question is though, is that perfectly acceptable protocol, or is it false advertising, like padded bras?
Please discuss...

In honor of the Royal Wedding...
As you may remember, last year I was completely OBSESSED with the Royal Wedding. I even took the day off and woke up SUPER early to live chat the wedding with my dear friend CJ. So you can imagine my excitement when I learned that Mattel released special edition William and Kate dolls in honor of the couple's one year anniversary (April 29th, in case you're wondering). Turns out, they were released on Valentine's Day and are now no longer available through Mattel!!
Not to fear! The good news is that it IS still available through Barbie Collector if you're so inclined...
Happy Anniversary Will and Kate!
Living out your princess dreams with dolls. Only mildly creepy.

Listening Now: Fenech-Soler
By now you already know that I have pretty eclectic taste in music- I love nothing more than finding awesome music by a band I haven't heard of before! I have a special affection for British bands, and Fenech-Soler is certainly one of those bands! In reality, I discovered them last year, and while they were supposed to release a US album in 2011, it was delayed when one of the members, Ben Duffy, was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He has since been declared in remission, and the band released its Demons- EP in the U.S. on March 28th! Enjoy!!!

Summer fragrance
One of my favorite things about international travel is Duty Free shops. Specifically, I love running around testing perfumes when I have nothing to do but kill time. This trip I tested a lot of perfumes I hadn't tested before, including a few Nina Ricci fragrances, the new Miss Dior fragrances, and then I finally settled on this- Burberry Body.
I'm really not qualified to go into the base notes, etc, but I can tell you that I absolutely LOVE it, and will be wearing it ALL summer!! Do you change your fragrance with the seasons? What are you wearing these days?

MIA
So, I sorta disappeared on you for a about three weeks there, didn't I? I had good reason for it though- N and I were visiting my family in INDIA!! We got back a week ago Sunday, and honestly, it took until this past Sunday to recover from jet lag. I don't know why this time was particularly bad, although I suspect it has something to do with the unexpected layover, and subsequent ass-crack-of-dawn flight from Toronto.
Overall, it was a great trip! We went to the beach for a few days, spent a lot of time hanging out with family, AND, I got LASIK!! Yes, I'm glasses and contact-lens FREE!!! Sunday will mark 3 weeks, an I will finally be permitted to wear eye makeup again. I honestly didn't think I would care about the no eye makeup part, but turns out I do. I've been wearing a bold lip over the past 3 weeks (and I mean BRIGHT- hot pink, to be precise), and its been ok, but I prefer a bold eye. Not that it should be a reason to discourage anyone from exploring LASIK- it is AWESOME, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who's considering it. No, it doesn't hurt, and yes, you can smell slight burning.
I did some shopping while I was there- no shock- and this year's purchases included a mustard colored leather jacket, and a beige quilted bag. Incidentally, now that I have a quilted bag, I'm more than a little obsessed with the idea of getting a CHANEL some day. You know, that day that I win the lottery.
Now, for some pictures:
