Listening Now: Haim

This week, I would like to introduce you to the newest single by Cali-band Haim. The new single is called The Wire

Incidentally, Allison and I are completely obsessed with this band; our obsession sparked by the very first single we heard: Falling

Incidentally, Haim is going on tour this fall, and while Cleveland is NOT currently on the list *sadness*, I hold out hope that they will change their mind.

A Delicious Friday in Cleveland

This past Friday, I took the day off from work, to spend some quality me-time. My day started with breakfast at Blackbird Baking Company.

Cafe au Lait and Pan au Chocolat were the perfect way to begin the day.

A quick appointment at my chiropractor was followed by a few quick errands (which naturally included shopping), by which point it was time for lunch.

Lunch was wine and salad at Sweet Melissa, and because it was my birthday week, I threw caution to the wind and got creme brulee for dessert!!

Lunch was followed by a mani, nap and dog walk, by which time it was time for dinner.

Luxe never disappoints, and on Friday, N and I decided to just do a bunch of small plates.

Overall, an absolutely delicious Friday!!!

An Hour In... Ohio City

This past weekend, N and I had an our to kill, and so we decided to spend it in a part of Ohio City that I really haven't taken the time to explore yet. If you haven't checked it out yet, West 29th between Church and Detroit is an absolutely charming little party of Ohio City.

Our first stop was Urban Orchid, a delightful floral boutique. To be honest, this is not the first time I've been here, but what I love most about this boutique is that you can give them a budget and an occasion, and they will create an absolutely stunning one-of-a-kind boutique that is GUARANTEED to put a smile on the recipient's face! AND, I always learn something new there, like...

Ornamental Kale-- I didn't know that was a thing!

Beautiful pink roses!

In addition to flowers, they also carry small gift items like vases and jewelry, and of course, adorable Cleveland themed merchandise!

We then walked around the corner to Rising Star Coffee Roasters, but not before I stopped to take a picture of this camper...

For someone who really doesn't care for camping, I am REALLY enamored with campers! I blame Charity.

2 Vietnamese iced coffee to go, please!!!

I love this bench at Rising Star

A few steps across the streets, and we were at Cleveland Museum of Art's newest outpost, Transformer Station! Incidentally, Transformer Station is hosting Ohio City Stages every Wednesday in July, which is an awesome street fest with live performances!

I absolutely LUUURVEE the industrial details in the space! There are usually 4 different exhibits each year, and like the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Transformer Station uses technology to help guide patrons through the exhibits (hint: take a mobile device with you!)

Another quick stop to check out the newest pet store: Kutya Rev.

Seriously, how adorable is this?!

I am also really excited that Harness Cycle will be opening at the corner later this year!! I can totally picture myself sweating it out and then heading over across the street to get some post-workout

So, if you haven't explored this little part of Ohio City before, I strongly encourage you to do so! It is a really lovely way to spend a few hours!

Listening Now: Cool Like Me

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a great week so far! I for one, am welcoming the cooler weather, despite the hail we had today!

This week, I've been listening to music by my newest discovery, Fryars, who is actually Ben Garrett, a 2 year old Brit. This song was released on iTunes on July 11th, and is the perfect summer song. I can just picture myself enjoying a few cocktails on the beach.....

Take a listen.... Cool Like Me

Maybe someday I will find a Pearl?

Ever since N and I took a trip to Montreal last fall with Dave and Jess, I have been OBSESSED with oysters on the half shell. I literally get uncontrollable cravings, and have been known to pick restaurants solely on whether they offer oysters or not. Its really become quite the problem.

This past Friday, after months of planning, Jess and I cut out of work a little early to get some oysters at Blue Point. It was my first time there, and I feel like a complete idiot for having missed out on their happy hour for so long-- oysters are $1 a piece!! And these are some really high quality oysters too!!

Paired with a glass of crisp white wine, these oysters are sheer perfection. While both the mignonette and cocktail sauce were delicious, my favorite way to eat oysters are with a squirt of lemon and a liberal dash of tabasco. I may or may not have eaten 20. I may or may not have later developed heartburn on account of the aforementioned tabasco, but it was worth it.

Happy Hour at Blue Point runs 3:00- 6:30 pm weekdays, and 4:00 pm- 9:00 pm Sundays!! If you are an oyster lover, you should definitely check it out!!!

Yes, yes, I know its July, but its summer, and I've been having fun!! I started out making the June playlist, and half way through, I figured out it was all women, so I continued with the theme to create a full playlist of songs that are either independent women, or groups headed by women.

Ready or Not - Bridgit Mendler
Don't Save Me-- Haim
Now is the Start-- A Fine Frenzy

Girl Gone Wild-- Madonna (because really, what is a playlist like this without Madge)
Attracting Flies-- AlunaGeorge (so, so catchy)

And finally, for a bonus, this is a song I've been listening to on Soundcloud, in honor of Wimbledon. Or something like that. In any case, it is available for download on iTunes starting today!!
