I've been a bad blogger. I'm sorry... with my parents in town, I've been pretty busy this week. I promise to make it up to you with multiple posts this weekend (rather than one super long one). This weekend promises to be pretty packed too! As the weather warms up, Cleveland begins festival season, which means, tons of things to do every weekend! In the future, I'll try and keep you updated on the weekend happenings in the middle of the week, but for now, here's what I'm looking forward to this weekend:
1. Saturday morning, beginning at 9.00 am (until they run out), Tremont hosts its annual flower sale in Lincoln Park (corner of W14th Street and Kenilworth Ave). The flower sale will offer flowers (of course), herbs, veggies, and all sorts of other plants, with the proceeds benefiting existing public gardens in Tremont. I'm still on the hunt for mint, lavender, and now, a tomato plant; remember the Topsy Turvy tomato planting? That didn't quite work out... the tomatoes are, well, dead. The herbs however, are still alive, and mostly thriving.
2. Also this Saturday is the First Annual Cleveland Asian Festival, in Asia Town on E 30th and Payne Ave. If you haven't checked out any of the Asian restaurants in Asia Town, you are seriously missing out on some really really really good Asian food, including dim sum (love, love, LOVE). The Asian food vendors will include Li Wah, Otani's Japanese Restaurant, Pearl of the Orient, and Saffron Patch. There's even an eggroll eating festival!
3. Hessler Street Fair on Saturday and Sunday, one block north of Mayfield and Euclid Ave. intersection near the campus of CWRU and University Circle. N and I used to go to this when we lived in Cleveland Heights, but we've missed the last two years taking various vacations. This is one of my favorite festivals, and features amazing food from a bunch of area ethnic restaurants, art and jewelry vendors, and LIVE MUSIC! Check out the link above for the full line up.
So if you don't have plans this weekend, you should check out the three festivals above. I reccommend you begin in Tremont and just head east. Also, please forward this onto the Cleveland naysayers who complain that Cleveland is boring and there's nothing to do. ; )
